November 1, 2026 - Canadian Time Zone Change

British Columbia, Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Manitoba stay on their current time all year, starting November 1, 2026. Here is what that means for your reminders, and how to check your account.

On November 1, 2026, the US time zones “fall back” one hour, as they do every year. British Columbia, Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Manitoba do not. They stay on the time they are on now, all year round.

That means the time zones named Pacific Time (US & Canada), Mountain Time (US & Canada) and Central Time (US & Canada) no longer match these provinces after November 1, even though “Canada” is in the name. They follow the US clock and fall back. If your account, calendar or booking page is still set to one of them, appointment times after November 1 can be an hour off.

Use this table to find the time zone to choose for your business:

  • Apptoto’s time zone information has been updated for the change.
  • British Columbia, Alberta and Manitoba now appear in every time zone list in Apptoto (your account, calendars, booking pages and appointments), just below the US time zones.
  • Appointments that Apptoto adds to a Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft 365 calendar use Microsoft’s new British Columbia and Alberta time zones. Microsoft has not released a Manitoba time zone yet, so Manitoba appointments still use Central Time in Outlook. See the Microsoft section below.
  • We are emailing customers whose accounts look affected. We will not change your time zone settings without checking with you first. If you got one of those emails, please reply to it.

Before you change anything: pick a test appointment

Section titled “Before you change anything: pick a test appointment”

Changing a time zone setting does not move your appointments. It changes how their saved time is read. Appointments that were entered while your calendar was set to a US time zone, for a date after November 1, may have been saved an hour off. Changing the setting is what reveals it.

So before you change anything:

  1. Pick one upcoming appointment after November 1.

  2. Write down the time it is really scheduled for, and the time Apptoto shows for it on the Appointments tab.

  3. After each change below, open that appointment again and compare.

If the appointment now shows an hour later than it should, it was saved on the old clock. Edit that appointment and set it back to the right time (see “Fixing appointments entered before the change” below). Check your other appointments after November 1 that were entered before you made the change.

  1. Your account. Go to Settings > Contact Info and set Your Time Zone to British Columbia, Alberta or Manitoba. Save your changes.

  2. Your calendars. Go to Settings > Calendars and click the gear icon next to each calendar. On the Basic tab, check Timezone. If it is set to Pacific, Mountain or Central Time (US & Canada), change it to your new time zone, or clear it so the calendar uses your account’s time zone. Click Save Changes.

  3. Your booking pages. Open each booking page and go to the Availability tab. If Fix Time Zone is checked, set the time zone next to it to your new time zone.

  4. Your calendar app. Follow the Google or Microsoft steps below. Reminders for appointments that come from Google Calendar or Outlook use the time zone the appointment was saved with there, so this step matters as much as the Apptoto settings.

For more on these settings, see Managing Your Time Zone Settings.

Google saves each appointment with the time zone of the Google account that created it. Apptoto’s reminders use that time zone, so it needs to be right in Google for every person who adds appointments.

Set your Google Calendar time zone

  1. In Google Calendar, click the gear icon and choose Settings.

  2. Under General > Time zone, set Primary time zone to your city’s time zone: for example Vancouver, Edmonton or Winnipeg.

  3. Under Settings for my calendars, click each calendar you use for appointments and check its Time zone too.

  4. Repeat for every Google account that adds appointments to your calendars, such as staff or a front desk account.

Fixing appointments entered before the change

Appointments after November 1 that were created while Google was set to Pacific, Mountain or Central Time keep that time zone. After you change your settings, they may show an hour later than they should. For each one:

  1. Open the appointment in Google Calendar and click Time zone next to the date and time.

  2. Set the event time zone to your new time zone (for example Vancouver).

  3. Make sure the start and end times are the times the appointment is really at, then save. For a repeating appointment, choose to update this and following events.

For appointments you create in Apptoto, or that clients book through your booking pages, open the appointment from the Appointments tab after changing your settings. If the time is an hour off, correct it in the appointment editor. The Timezone field in the editor shows which time zone the appointment uses; leave it on the default unless the client is somewhere else.

Contact us at support@apptoto.com with your Apptoto username, one appointment that looks wrong, and the time it should be at. We will look at your account with you.
