In-Contact Commands
Just like In-Event Commands change messaging for a single appointment, you can put a command in a contact’s Notes to change messaging for that person everywhere. Apptoto applies the command to that contact in every appointment they are matched to, so it is the right tool for “this client never wants a text” rather than “skip this one appointment”.
Where to put the command
Section titled “Where to put the command”Open the contact from the Contacts tab and type the command anywhere in the Notes field. The rest of your note can stay as it is — Apptoto only looks for the command inside the text.
If your contacts sync from Google, Outlook, or a CRM, you can also add the command to the contact’s notes or description field there, and it will come across with the next sync.

How commands and the Preferences dropdowns fit together
Section titled “How commands and the Preferences dropdowns fit together”The message commands do the same thing as the Preferences dropdowns on the contact — #nosms is the same as setting SMS to Opt-out, and #sms is the same as Enable ALL SMS Messages. See Contact Preferences (Opting in and out) for what each dropdown option means.
A command in the Notes always wins over the dropdown, so if you later want to change a contact’s preference, remove the command from the Notes first. Otherwise the dropdown will appear to change but the note will keep overriding it.
Blocking a contact completely
Section titled “Blocking a contact completely”[SKIP] in a contact’s Notes blocks the contact entirely: Apptoto will not match them to appointments at all, so they never receive messages and they do not appear as a participant. This one is only recognized in the bracket style, and it must be uppercase.
If you only want to stop one type of message, use #nosms, #nocall, or #noemail instead.
When a contact command and an appointment command disagree
Section titled “When a contact command and an appointment command disagree”Commands that turn messages off always win. If a contact has #sms in their Notes but the appointment title has #nosms, no SMS goes out for that appointment. The same holds the other way around: #nosms on the contact wins over #sms on the appointment.
