Know Your Customer (KYC) Phone Number Registration

Businesses in the United Kingdom that use Apptoto will now be required to register their phone numbers as part of updated Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.

When registering a phone number, a company will be asked to submit key information about their business, which will, in turn, be used to confirm who they are. This helps ensure that businesses are not using phone numbers for spam and phishing attacks and that they are not taking part in illegal or illicit activities.

While KYC regulations have been in effect for many years, this latest update implements more stringent regulations due to evolving regulatory demands and advancements in digital technology.

Beginning May 27, 2024, all new long code numbers (9-10 digits) purchased by businesses in the UK must be registered. Businesses will have until September 30, 2024, to register any existing numbers they use to text or call prospective and current customers.

To ensure that your calls and text messages are not filtered or blocked, please work with our expert Customer Success team at Apptoto to register any numbers you use for appointment reminders and messaging.

Note: These requirements currently apply to businesses in the UK and Australia. If you are a US-based business, find information on 10DLC registration requirements here.
